Day 1 – Teacher Gifts for the Christmas Holiday from Mystery Momma
Who doesn’t love giving gifts and having an excuse to embark on another craft project? I am always looking forward to the next craft project that flits in my ever moving imagination.
However, sometimes Poppa Bear doesn’t enjoy the various projects (a good portion of them crash and burn) nor the fact that I end up going over my proposed budget a good portion of the time! ???
I joined our school’s PTA in order to have interaction with the teachers and to have an excuse to do arts and craft projects; however it is different than I thought it was going to be. Let me just tell ya’ll there have been ZERO craft projects and I am heart broken!
So, ya’ll that is how I came up with Mystery Momma! It is a way for me to say thank you to the little Cats’ N Bearz teachers and get my craft fix all in one swoop!
For this Christmas season I am doing a 6 day EXTRAVAGANZA of food, desserts, gifts, and crafts. For the 1st day I purchased candles with the intentions of just adding a bow to them. However, once again my imagination took over and I came up with something slightly more costly.
Materials
- Candles
- Wrapping paper
- Ribbon w/wire edges
- Hot glue gun (make sure you don’t run out of glue sticks like I did…)
The idea to cover the candle label with wrapping paper came about because the ribbon didn’t look right by itself. I did it this way because I didn’t think the labels that were already attached were festive enough. In order to keep the wrapping paper from sliding around I used the glue from the hot glue gun to attach it to the glass candle.
Next, I attached the ribbon to the center of each candle. I wrapped them around and tied them in a bow. Unfortunately I ran out of glue sticks for the glue gun and I cut the various ribbons too short!
Finally I pulled out the large metal tub and filled it with plastic bags (I don’t know anyplace where I can still get newspaper). I then added white filler on top of the bags. Once I had enough white filler I placed all of the completed candles inside of the metal tub.
